Volkswagen has unveiled the ID.X Performance, an all-electric sports limousine with 550 horsepower (411 kW) and all-wheel drive. This performance-oriented EV combines sporty performance with the elegant lines of a limousine.
The ID.X Performance will be premiered at the ID. Drivers Club meetup organized by Volkswagen fans in Ticino, Switzerland. Maria Soni Reissfelder, head of marketing and sales for the Volkswagen ID. Family, expressed enthusiasm for connecting with enthusiasts at the event.

The vehicle is based on Volkswagen’s new flagship ID.7 electric sedan and features several sporty enhancements to improve its dynamics. It has a lowered sports suspension with stiff springs for improved agility and handling. The front lip spoiler, rear diffusers, and rear wing are made of carbon to enhance aerodynamics. Tinted taillights, 20-inch sports alloy wheels, and red accent lines along the base of the car add to its dynamic appearance.

Inside, the ID.X Performance features carbon bucket seats and red accents on the steering wheel, doors, and dashboard for a high-performance feel.
The vehicle is equipped with all-wheel drive, with a permanently excited synchronous motor on the rear axle and an asynchronous motor on the front axle. Drive torque is controlled by a Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which manages the rear axle differential lock. Users can control this function through the vehicle’s 6.7-inch center console screen.

While the ID.X Performance is a show car and won’t be available for purchase, Volkswagen recently started pre-sales of the ID.7 in Germany, with prices starting at approximately $62,000 (€56,995). The ID.7 is Volkswagen’s flagship electric sedan, equipped with an 86 kWh battery pack and offering 435 miles of range in its European version. Its North American launch is planned for the following year, with pricing yet to be finalized.
