Trek’s e-bike subsidiary, Electra, has introduced a new model named the Ponto Go! that exemplifies this trend. The Ponto Go! is equipped with a long cargo rack and an extended bench saddle, creating space for a passenger. Foot pegs are incorporated to accommodate a second rider, and the bike features a comfortable and relaxed riding geometry.
The Ponto Go! is designed to be suitable for riders of varying heights, from 4’10” to 6’2″ (147 to 188 centimeters), and is offered in a single size. Despite its passenger-carrying capabilities, the e-bike maintains impressive performance. It is classified as a Class 3 electric bicycle, offering both pedal-assist and a thumb throttle. In pedal-assist mode, it can reach speeds of up to 26 miles per hour, while throttle mode limits speeds to 20 miles per hour. The motor is a 750-watt hub motor, and the e-bike is equipped with a 650-watt-hour battery that provides an estimated 60 miles of range on a single charge.
The Ponto Go! features 20 x 4-inch urban tires that offer a cushioning effect to compensate for the lack of rear suspension. The front end of the e-bike is equipped with a suspension fork to enhance comfort on uneven road surfaces. Additionally, it comes with an eight-speed drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and a Quadlock phone mount on the handlebars for added convenience.
Remarkably, the Ponto Go! is attractively priced at $2,699 USD and offers buyers a choice of four colors: Ocean Blue, Black Hole, Harbor Gray, and Cloud, which features a gradient reminiscent of cotton candy.
