Peek into the Future of Trucking: Pepsico Details Utilization of Tesla Semi Electric Trucks

PepsiCo has provided insights into its use of Tesla Semi electric trucks through a video produced by the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE). PepsiCo has integrated Tesla Semi trucks into its fleet primarily at its Sacramento facility, which is fully electrified and powered by solar energy. The video explains that most of PepsiCo’s 21 Tesla Semi trucks are used for deliveries within 100 miles with multiple stops, operating for up to 12 hours a day.

Three of the trucks are dedicated to long-haul routes of 250 to 450 miles. Tesla has installed 750 kW Megachargers at PepsiCo facilities, allowing charging to 80% capacity in less than 45 minutes. The company has praised Tesla Semi’s efficiency and regenerative braking, achieving an average efficiency of 1.7 kWh per mile, resulting in significant fuel cost reductions compared to diesel trucks.
