Volkswagen has taken a significant step forward in its electric vehicle (EV) lineup by opening pre-orders for its flagship electric sedan, the ID.7, in Europe. The ID.7 marks the sixth member of Volkswagen’s ID family of electric vehicles, joining the ranks of the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.6, and ID.Buzz electric van.
With the ID.7, Volkswagen is targeting the upper mid-size sedan market, offering a spacious and efficient electric option for consumers. The ID.7 will be available in two versions: the Pro and Pro S. The Pro version, which is open for pre-orders, starts at approximately $61,600 (€56,995).

One of the standout features of the ID.7 Pro is its sizable 77 kWh battery, which contributes to an impressive WLTC range of up to 385 miles (621 km). The rear-mounted electric motor delivers a noteworthy 281 horsepower (210 kW) and 545 Nm of torque. This configuration not only ensures a lively driving experience but also frees up space in the cabin, providing ample legroom for passengers. Additionally, the luggage compartment boasts a generous capacity of up to 532 liters, offering practicality for everyday use.
Volkswagen is also building excitement with the announcement of a sporty GTX trim for the ID.7. This variant is expected to feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, enhancing both performance and traction.

The ID.7’s production kicked off recently at Volkswagen’s Emden plant in Germany, signaling the automaker’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle offerings. Volkswagen aims to cater to various customer preferences and needs by providing a diverse range of electric models, ensuring that there is an EV for every type of driver.
The ID.7 launch edition comes with a range of premium features and technology enhancements. Notable additions include an augmented reality head-up display, the “Discover Pro Max” navigation system, alloy wheels with a diamond cut finish, and keyless locking. Safety features such as Travel Assist, Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist are included as standard, underlining Volkswagen’s commitment to passenger safety.
The ID.7’s efficiency is highlighted by its aerodynamic design, which contributes to an average fuel consumption of 16.3 – 14.1 kWh per 100 km and over 285 miles of range. The sedan’s agility is also evident, with a turning radius of just 10.8 meters, making it easy to maneuver in various driving scenarios.

Volkswagen is not only prioritizing performance and efficiency but also passenger comfort. The ID.7 introduces intelligent electronic air vents that help distribute air throughout the cabin quickly and efficiently. Optional features include an ergonomic comfort seat package with memory and massage functions, background lighting with a range of colors, and a panoramic sunroof with “smart glass” technology.
The ID.7 Pro S, featuring an 86 kWh battery and a remarkable WLTC range of 435 miles, is expected to launch in Europe later this year. Following its European rollout, the Pro S version is slated for a North American release in the subsequent year.
As Volkswagen continues to expand its electric vehicle portfolio, the ID.7 represents a significant step towards offering consumers a comprehensive range of electric mobility options, catering to different preferences, lifestyles, and regions.
